Today I made a little Halloween house/lantern that is painted orange inside with parchment paper over the windows so it shines with the eerie glow of a tealight inside :) (Taken with Instagram)

I had my father get sick when I was 22. And I was poor, alright. And my father had an ulcer, and it exploded and you know all these toxins get in your blood. And basically, my father died, whatever, 50 days after his ulcer. So I had a father get sick while I was poor.

My mother got sick when I was rich. And my mother, you know… I don’t really want to get into it, but my mother was sicker than my father. And my mother’s alive. My mother’s fine, OK? I remember going to the hospital to see my mother and wondering, ‘Was I in the right place?’ Like, this was a hotel. Like it had a concierge, man.

People don’t… if the average person really knew the discrepancy in the health care system, there’d be riots in the streets, OK? They would burn this motherfucker down!”

How I feel about CSS

Things I love about CSS:

  • Every object has its own margin, padding, and positioning.
  • Some objects have default styles that override the parent’s style.
  • The priority styles are applied varies based on its position in the stylesheet.

Things I hate about CSS:

Being stuck at home due to the lengthy US visa process gives me a few benefits - one of which is that I see what goes on outside our apartment.
Last week, the department of health came and put sealed tags on the gates to the pool at our complex because the water was “cloudy” (no surprise to any of the residents as the tiles have been coming off and the lights haven’t worked since before we moved in) which pushed the landlord into doing something about it.
So over the past week, I’ve watched the pool get drained, the tiles removed and replaced with nice fresh ones, 2 days of pneumatic drilling to remove the plaster (that wasn’t as much fun to hear), then replastering the pool and finally re-filling.
It’s full again now, although the water needs to be filtered and treated first, before the department of health come back to give it the green light. It’s exciting, though - it looks all clean and fresh, and makes the rest of the complex look old and junky (which, to be fair, it is).
I would’ve uploaded this on Instagram, but for some reason the app completely hangs my phone when I get past the camera/gallery stage, so all I can do is view and comment on other people’s photos at the moment…
